Funerals: Service

A funeral marks the end of a life, the opportunity for friends and family to express their grief, to give thanks and to commend the person into God’s keeping. At St Nicholas’ and St Mary’s we will always be here to help you through one of life’s most difficult times. We give support before, during and after the service, for as long as it’s needed. We will listen to your needs and work with you at this difficult time.

FUNERALS:

If you want to hold a funeral at either of our churches, you should firstly contact your chosen funeral director. They will then liaise with the church office and make the arrangements for you. It is important that they do this before fixing the date and time of the service, to ensure that our clergy are available. You have the option to have your loved one either buried or cremated and the undertaker will help you with that decision. Once someone from our ministry team has been appointed to take the service, they will contact you and arrange to come to see you at your home. At that stage they will discuss the more detailed content of the service, including whether you want to have hymns or readings.

INTERMENT OF ASHES:

If you have already held a cremation but wish your loved one’s ashes to be interred in our Garden of Remembrance or in an existing family grave at St Nicholas’ contact our parish office (see home page) and we will make the necessary arrangements.
